NBC Touts Jay Leno’s Best Week Since His ‘Tonight’ Return

Numbers however are helped by an NFL overrun

jay lenoJay Leno scored his highest ratings in the 18-49 demo last week since his March return to "The Tonight Show," NBC trumpeted in a release Thursday.

For the week of Sept. 6-10, Leno scored 1.586 million viewers in the demo, and 4.158 million in total viewers, NBC said.

However, the numbers take into account a highly-rated NFL overrun that served as a lucrative lead-in, the exclusion of Monday stats for the Labor Day holiday, as well as another night when rival "Late Show with David Letterman" on CBS was a repeat.

NBC's "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" scored its biggest weeklong adult 18-49 audience (952,000) since January, and best total viewers numbers since the first week of March, the week of Leno's return, the network said.

Letterman for the week netted 971,000 viewers in the 18-49 demo and 3.103 million total viewers.
