New ‘Purge 2: Anarchy’ Trailer Introduces New Characters and the Murderous 1 Percent (Video)

Frank Grillo joins Zach Gilford and Kiele Sanchez in a 12-hour survival mission on the streets of Los Angeles

The second trailer for “The Purge: Anarchy” reveals that the couple whose car broke down in the first trailer won’t be alone.

The latest look (above) at the sequel to the 2013 low-budget hit “The Purge” includes the introduction of Frank Grillo (“Warrior”), who plays a character out for revenge, but ends up shepherding (or at least attempting to) a group of survivors that are unfit for the government-sanctioned chaos on their own.

Weaklings include a couple played by Zach Gilford (“Friday Night Lights”) and Kiele Sanchez (“The Glades”), a mother-daughter pair, plus a few others Grillo’s heavily-armed character saves from a bunch of masked strangers attempting to round them up.

It appears that despite the group’s best efforts, they’ll end up on stage in front of the city’s wealthiest citizens to be auctioned off to the highest bidders who want to take a human life without putting their own on the line.

Universal is releasing its co-production with Blumhouse and Platinum Dunes on July 18.
