Nick Nolte Joins Fox Event Series ‘Gracepoint’ as Series Regular

The Academy Award nominee joins previously announced cast members Anna Gunn, Jacki Weaver and Michael Pena

Nick Nolte is joining Fox’s event series, “Gracepoint,” in the series regular role of Jack Reinhold.

Reinhold is described as a stubborn, unmarried, willful man, who has lived in titular town Gracepoint for 20 years. He runs the kayak rental on the beach as well as the local wildlife observation program, where the murdered boy at the center of the plot was one of his volunteers.

Nolte is a three-time Academy Award nominee, most recently for Best Supporting Actor for his role in “Warrior”, and a Golden Globe winner. He joins previously announced cast members David Tennant (“Det. Emmett Carver”), Anna Gunn (“Ellie Miller”), Jacki Weaver (“Susan Wright”), Michael Peña (“Gangster Squad”), Kevin Rankin (“Paul Coates”), Virginia Kull (“Beth Lasseter”) and Kevin Zegers (“Transamerica”).

Nolte most recently starred in “Gangster Squad,” “Parker,” and “The Company You Keep.” His upcoming feature film projects include “Return to Sender,” directed by Fouad Mikati, and the film adaptation of bestselling novel, “A Walk in the Woods,” in which he will be co-starring with Robert Redford. Nolte is represented by CAA.

Produced by Shine America in association with Kudos and Imaginary Friends, “Gracepoint” is scheduled to begin filming in January, for broadcast during the 2014-2015 season. The crime series will be executive-produced by the original series’ creator, Chris Chibnall (“Dr. Who,” “Camelot”), with Shine America’s Carolyn Bernstein (“The Bridge”), Kudos’ Jane Featherstone (“The Hour,” “Utopia”), Dan Futterman (“Capote,” “In Treatment”) and Anya Epstein (“In Treatment,” “Homicide”). Futterman and Epstein will serve as showrunners. Chibnall will write the premiere episode and James Strong (“Broadchurch,” “Downton Abbey”) is signed on to direct. The series will be distributed by Shine International.

“Gracepoint” is a 13-episode adaptation of British hit “Broadchurch.”
