Sports stars are used to getting hits on the field, but most of them don’t have to tackle slime.

That all changed on Thursday when the world’s biggest athletes — many of them bringing their own children — teamed up for the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Sports Awards.

Hosted by Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson, the trophies were handed out live at Pauley Pavilion in Los Angeles.

Derek Jeter, Lindsey Vonn, Stephen Curry and Mo’Ne Davis were among the sports icons at the show.

Wilson, who also won a few awards of his own after losing out on the Lombardi Trophy this year, took the reins from last year’s host, Michael Strahan, who continue to serve as executive producer for the second-annual event.

“I’ve always wanted to host a show … I’ve never hosted anything like this before, but I’ve played in front of a lot of people so I’m not nervous,” the 2013 Super Bowl champion told TheWrap when it was announced he’d be hosting. “It’s all about authenticity and enjoying yourself — and it’s all about the kids.”

“Nick Kids Sports is a genre-busting format that is very demanding and very energetic. It’s lots of fun to direct and produce. Everyone has the best time,” executive producer and show director Hamish Hamilton of Done + Dusted went on to tell TheWrap.
