Noah Baumbach’s ‘Frances Ha’ Appears to Be a Black and White Delight (Video)

The first trailer for Noah Baumbach's black-and-white film features Greta Gerwig demonstrating her colorful charm

Noah Baumbach's "Frances Ha" may be in black and white, but the first trailer shows Greta Gerwig's charming persona adds plenty of color and warmth to the film.

Written by Baumbach and Gerwig, the Brooklyn-set comedy follows the 27-year-old titular character prancing and dancing her way through the challenges of adulthood, with no signs of actually growing up.

Although the visual style is similar to Woody Allen's "Manhattan," the tone and dialogue is more reminiscent of Lena Dunham's "Girls," which lent cast member Adam Driver to the production. Mickey Sumner, Michael Zegen and Patrick Heusinger also star.

"Frances Ha" premiered to a warm reception at the Telluride Film Festival last fall and got picked up by IFC shortly after.

Baumbach's feel-good follow-up to "Greenberg" will be released on May 17.
