Obama on Weiner: ‘If It Were Me, I’d Resign’

President tells “Today” host that if he had posted randy pictures on Facebook and Twitter he’d think about calling it a career

If President Barack Obama ever gets caught posting randy messages on Facebook or Twitter, he'll call it a career.

The Commander in Chief stopped just short of calling for Rep. Anthony Weiner's resignation during an interview with "Today" that will air on Tuesday.

“I can tell you that if it was me, I would resign,’’ Obama told host Ann Curry.

Words the public will have to hold him to if he ever gets caught tweeting tawdry pictures from the White House gym.

Obama, who previously remained mum while the scandal surrounding the unfortunately named New York congressman and photos of his penis, reportedly went on to tell Curry that Weiner had become a distraction from issues such as the economic downturn.

In something of an understatement, the President labelled Weiner's behavior "highly inappropriate."

The President's words come on the heels of statements from the White House signaling dissatisfaction with the congressman and his deep dive into digital erotica.

"We think this is a distraction obviously from the important business that this President needs to conduct and Congress needs to conduct," White House Press Secretary Jay Carney told a press gaggle on Air Force One on Monday.

Weiner announced on Saturday that he plans to take a leave of absence to focus on getting his family back together. The House approved his request on Monday afternoon.
