Obama Nominates Sony’s Tom Rothman to National Council on the Arts

Chairman of Tristar Productions would serve six-year term

President Obama announced his intent to nominate Tom Rothman, chairman of Sony-based Tristar Productions, to the National Council on the Arts on Thursday.

The nomination will now go to the U.S. Senate for confirmation. If confirmed, Rothman will serve a six-year term on the council, which advises the chair of the National Endowment for the Arts. The general public is also able to submit nominees for the council each year.

Rothman was chairman and CEO of Fox until 2012, and recently relaunched the Tristar brand under Sony Pictures Entertainment.
