Norway’s Prime Minister Gets Kidnapped in Energy Crisis Series ‘Occupied’ (Exclusive Video)

Environmentally conscious Pivot acquires 10-episodes of one-hour drama

Where’s Liam Neeson when you need him?

In the above clip from suspense series “Occupied,” the Norwegian prime minister is kidnapped after deciding to halt all oil production. Unfortunately, his helpless aides demonstrate a lack of particular skills during the frightening ordeal.

But whodunnit? Was it the oil companies, the Russians or an extremely scorned ex? (OK, so it’s probably not that last one.)

The 10-episode, one-hour thriller explores how climate change can cause nations to collide. After a freak hurricane devastates Norway, the country’s newly elected leader inadvertently causes a global energy crisis. The dependency for oil is so great that Russia’s hand is forced, as it must occupy Norway to start production from its neighbor’s oil rigs. And you just know that’s not going to go over well.

The series has been acquired by the environmentally conscious Pivot, TheWrap has learned — finding the perfect home for such a show. “Occupied” premieres on Thursday, May 5, at 10 p.m. ET.
