"Once," the winner of the 2012 Best Musical Tony Award, picked up a Grammy nomination Wednesday night for Best Musical Theater Album, along with "Follies," "The Gershwins' Porgy & Bess," "Newsies" and "Nice Work If You Can Get It."
"Once," based on the 2006 movie of the same name, features music by Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova, who won the 2008 Oscar for Best Original Song for "Falling Slowly." The musical won seven other Tonys, including best director (John Tiffany), book of a musical (Enda Walsh)" and lead actor in a musical (Steve Kazee).

The category pits Gershwin against Gershwin, with "Porgy & Bess" the Tony winner for Best Revival of a Musical, facing off with "Nice Work If You Can Get It," which includes the Gershwin classics "'S Wonderful" and "Someone to Watch Over Me." "Porgy" features performances by David Alan Grier, Norm Lewis and Audra McDonald, while "Nice Work" features Matthew Broderick and Kelli O'Hara.
"Follies," which starred Bernadette Peters, Danny Danny Burstein, Jan Maxwell, Elaine Page and Ron Raines, features music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. The acclaimed Kennedy Center production opened on Broadway on Sept. 12, 2011, and ran through Jan. 22 of this year before launching a national tour.
Disney's "Newsies," rounds out the nominees. The musical, with music by Alan Menken and lyrics by Jack Feldman, is based on the 1992 film about the turn-of-the-century New York City newsboy strike.
The 2013 Grammy Awards will take place Feb. 10 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles and will be broadcast on CBS.
