Is Oprah Winfrey teasing us?

On Thursday night, the “60 Minutes” contributor retweeted a column from the New York Post calling her “the Democrats’ best hope for 2020.”

“Thanks for your VOTE of confidence!” she tweeted to conservative columnist John Podhoretz.

We don’t want to get too excited, because Winfrey has shot down previous suggests that she run for president — or any other government job. “I will never run for public office,” she told the Hollywood Reporter in June.

And despite a March interview with Bloomberg that left room for fans to speculate, Winfrey’s close friend Gayle King said “it was clearly a joke” and “that ain’t never happening.”

In the Bloomberg interview, Winfrey said she never thought about running because she has no political experience — but now that another billionaire TV personality has moved into the White House, anything seems possible.

“I never considered the question even a possibility,” she said. “‘Oh, gee, I don’t have the experience, I don’t know enough.’ And now I’m thinking, ‘Oh.’”

While Winfrey’s tweet definitely doesn’t reveal any future campaign plans, it’s sure to give Oprah 2020 hopefuls more rumor mill fodder.
