‘Orange Is the New Black’ Season 5 Trailer: The Inmates Are Running the Asylum (Video)

And they’ve got a list of demands

The ladies of Litchfield are mad as hell, and they’re not taking it anymore.

On Tuesday, Netflix dropped its official “Orange Is the New Black” Season 5 trailer, in which the inmates “are protesting the abusive conditions under which we are being held,” according to a letter read aloud by a leader of the convicted-felon rebellion. Powerful former enemies on the inside are uniting for a shared cause, which spells big trouble for the guards.

“We get beat for no reason, we get stuffed four in a bunk like we’re factory chickens — we’re denied basic humanity,” Taystee (Danielle Brooks) explains their beef in the preview, which is posted above.

“We want to be motherf—ing taken serious,” she adds later during a Facetime call broadcast from inside the prison yard.

This season, the prisoner riot sparked by Poussey’s (Samira Wiley) death quickly escalates when the inmates gain control of the jail. Once they get a taste of power, chaos ensues through the halls of Litchfield, per Netflix’s official description.

In real time and over the course of just three days, Season 5 of “Orange Is the New Black” will leave the inmates’ lives forever changed as they are emboldened to fight for redemption, resolution and the respect they deserve, it continued.

Watch the trailer above. Netflix previously released the opening moments of the season, which picks up right where last year lead off — and Dascha’s (Dayanara Diaz) got a gun.

Season 5 of “OITNB” drops in its entirety June 9 on Netflix.
