Oscars Pizza Delivery Guy on ‘Ellen’: ‘I Was Just Shocked’ to Get On Stage (Video)

DeGeneres gave Edgar Martirosyan the $600 tip she collected from the star-studded audience that chowed down on the three large pies — plus $400 out of her own pocket

Edgar Martirosyan made history on Sunday as the first pizza delivery man to make it to the Oscar stage — on the clock, at least — and he had no idea he was about to do it, either.

“They told me I’m gonna just deliver for writers. And then when I was there, they just told me, ‘Wait here.’ And then you came out,” Martirosyan told Ellen DeGeneres on her daytime talk show (above) on Monday. “You said, ‘Just follow me.’ And we’re going, and I’m on a stage. I was just shocked.”

That’s right. Martirosyan, who co-owns the Big Mama’s and Papa’s pizza joint with his brother, was just a pawn in DeGeneres’ joke that ran throughout the show.

After announcing to the star-studded audience that she would be ordering pizza for everyone, DeGeneres followed through on her promise and escorted Martirosyan through the Dolby Theatre auditorium, where he was able to serve the woman of his dreams, Julia Roberts.

“She was, like, my woman in dreams,” Martirosyan said of the Oscar nominee. “I was always watching her movies bacon Moscow, so it was something crazy to me.”

Another crazy thing happened just moments later when DeGeneres ended her interview with Martirosyan by handing over the $600 in tips she collected from Hollywood’s A-listers with Pharrell Williams‘ big, brown hat. Oh yeah, and she chipped in an extra $400 herself.

All in all, it seems like Martirosyan had a better night than some of the nominees. Especially Leonardo DiCaprio.
