The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences released the list of 74 works eligible for best original song at the upcoming Academy Awards on Friday.
However, Brian Wilson and Scott Bennett’s “One Kind of Love” from Beach Boys biopic “Love & Mercy” didn’t make cut despite receiving a Golden Globes nomination Thursday.
According to a spokesperson for the Academy, the song was deemed ineligible by the Academy’s Music Branch.
DVDs containing clips of the eligible songs as they are used in their films will be sent to members of the branch, who will vote for their five favorites. The contenders receiving the most votes will make up the nominees, which will be announced on Jan. 14 at the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills.
The Oscars will be held Feb. 28 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood and televised live on ABC at 7 p.m. ET.
