Breakout acts like Haim and Lorde will share the stage with mature rock acts like Beck and Motorhead
Outkast, Arcade Fire and Muse will headline the Coachella Music & Arts Festival in 2014, the annual musical concert said Wednesday.
The show will take place the second and third weekend in April — the second year that the festival has spanned two weekends.
It was already known that Outkast, the name of popular rap duo Andre Benjamin (Andre 3000) and Antwan “Big Boi” Patton, would perform, but that remains the most surprising of the three headliners. Benjamin and Patton have not recorded or toured together much in recent years as each pursued solo projects and Benjamin pursued an acting career.
Arcade Fire will perform a few months after releasing their latest album “Reflektor” while Grammy-nominated Muse, an English rock band, is still touring off an album released in 2012 that offered a couple popular singles.
Other acts slated to perform include former Angeleno Beck, emerging stars such as Lorde and Haim and a bevy of handful of successful rap and electronic acts like Nas, Kid Cudi, Alesso and Duck Sauce. This lineup features fewer high-profile DJs than recent iterations of the festival, opting for more rock and alternative music.
Tickets go on sale Jan. 10.
