“Outsiders” star Ryan Hurst kept the crowd at the Television Critics Association in stitches on Thursday when he revealed how the Farrell clan on the new WGN America series got its name.

“We’re all related to Colin Farrell,” he said to the delight of the crowd. Hurst will play Lil Foster, one of the key members of a family that has lived in the Appalachian mountains for over 200 years.

Series executive producer Paul Giamatti, appearing via satellite, also revealed what drew him to the show, which marks his first foray into television production.

“As an actor, I don’t get to do a lot of stuff like this,” Giamatti said. “I don’t get to play bad ass guys on ATVs a whole lot, but I do like watching that kind of thing.”

The cast and creators of the show were also asked several questions about the relevance of the show given recent events in Oregon, in which heavily armed white men have seized a wildlife preserve in defiance of the government, as well as the debate surrounding the Second Amendment.

“I’m more concerned that we’re promoting people riding ATVs through big box stores,” executive producer Peter Tolan joked.

“Outsiders” will premiere on WGN America on Jan. 26 at 9 p.m./8c
