Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne Owe IRS to the Tune of $1.7 Million

Heavy metal’s elder statesman and his wife/caretaker get a hefty past-due bill from Uncle Sam

Need a lesson in perspective while dealing with the agony of tax season? Consider the case of Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne.

The former Black Sabbath warbler and his wife/"The Osbournes" co-star owe Uncle Sam in excess of $1.7 million dollars, TMZ reports. Citing documents filed by the IRS at the Los Angeles County Recorder's Office, the "Crazy Train" belter and his sharp-tongued spouse owe $718,948.25 in back taxes for 2008, and $1,024,175.03 for 2009.

Chances are, not much of that was from revenue earned from the very-short-lived 2009 Fox variety series "The Osbournes Reloaded," which aired for just one episode before the plug was yanked.

This isn't the first time that Sharon has run afoul of the tax collectors — TMZ reports that she faced a tax lien in 2009, for $23,000 owed to California for the 2007 tax year.

Not quite a Nicolas Cage-size tax problem, but still — it's probably enough to drive Ozzy out of his mind. Oh, wait — yeah, right…
