ABC News and Time Inc.’s People are teaming up for a new limited primetime series titled “People Icons,” premiering Tuesday, March 7 at 10 p.m. ET on ABC, TheWrap has learned exclusively.

The hour-long weekly program will be hosted by “Good Morning America” co-anchor Lara Spencer and is inspired by iconic People magazine covers that have made an impact on American culture.

People editor-in-chief Jess Cagle is featured throughout the show, with other editors from the magazine expected to make appearances during the series.

Each episode has a different theme, with the debut edition focusing on “Celebrity Love Stories.” Power couples ranging from the Obamas to Beyoncé and Jay-Z will be examined.

Additional episodes include “Heroes & Survivors,” which highlights everyday people who have defied odds, such as a mother who lost both of her legs while saving her two children in two separate tornadoes that happened fifteen minutes apart.

An episode titled, “Gone Too Soon,” reflects on the life and legacy of stars such as Prince and Patrick Swayze. On March 28, ABC will air the “Sexiest Man Alive” episode, revisiting male celebrities from People Magazine’s past and current “Sexiest Man Alive” covers. The Rock is the current “Sexiest Man Alive,” so viewers can expect the former WWE star to be prominently featured in the special episode.
