President Trump took to Twitter on Monday morning as Kellyanne Conway appeared on multiple shows to defend his wiretapping allegations, defending his surrogates from the “rude” media.

Trump tweeted, “It is amazing how rude much of the media is to my very hard working representatives. Be nice, you will do much better!”

Trump initially tweeted unsubstantiated claims that President Barack Obama had illegally wiretapped Trump Tower before last fall’s election. The White House has called on Congress to “determine whether executive branch investigative powers were abused in 2016.”

Conway appeared on a variety of news programs Monday morning, attempting to defend Trump’s claim. However, over the weekend she told the New Jersey Bergen County Record, “You can surveil someone through their phones, certainly through their television sets — any number of ways.”

Conway went so far as to say there are “microwaves that turn into cameras,” noting “this is a fact of modern life.” She did not provide any evidence to back up her comments but scaled things back on Monday morning.

Her response was mocked on social media and she was repeatedly asked about the comments on Monday.

“All I said to the Bergen Record is I was making a comment about the articles from this past week where it is revealed that one can be surveilled in any number of techniques — through microwaves, through cameras, through televisions,” Conway told ABC’s “MA” co-host George Stephanopoulos. “I wasn’t making a suggestion about Trump Tower. These are two separate things.

Stephanopoulos fired back, “That’s what you were asked about.”

“And I answered him about surveilling, generally,” Conway said. “I have no evidence.”

Judging from POTUS’ Monday tweet, he didn’t care for the way Conway has been treated during her recent TV appearances.
