The demon that haunted white families in the last four “Paranormal Activity” movies has finally discovered California’s Latino population
The first trailer for “Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones” has arrived, and it’s more of the same stuff fans have seen before, but with new faces.
And they’re not white, either, for once.
The spinoff/sequel (or whatever you want to call a franchise film that defies numerical progression) follows a teenager (Andrew Jacobs) living in a rough neighborhood in Oxnard, Calif., where he regularly gets bullied by thugs. After investigating a crime scene, however, he becomes “marked” and begins being bullied by a new foe: an evil demon that wants to possess his body.
The good news in this horrific found-footage scenario is that the demon appears to be protective of its potential human host, and beats up those bothersome bullies.
The bad news? It wants to murder the boy’s friends and family who are trying to save his soul.
Paramount Pictures is rolling out “The Marked Ones” on Jan. 3. Meanwhile, “Paranormal Activity 5″ is scheduled to be released next October.
