Jennifer Lopez’s old pal Casper Smart attended the “Idol” judge’s “HOME” premiere in Westwood on Sunday, but was not part of Lopez’s red carpet “+2”. Smart worked on the film himself.
The two studios behind the animated feature: Fox’s Jim Gianopulos, Marilyn Katzenberg, and DreamWorks Animation’s Jeffrey Katzenberg. The film comes out on Friday.
The Linklater season continues! Jason Reitman (left) cast winners for his newest “Live Read”: “Dazed and Confused”, Film Independent’s series of Live Reads at LACMA drew a line around the building on Thursday night.
The cast included James Van Der Beek, Whitney Cummings, Nick Kroll, Eric Andre, Paul Scheer, and Jason Mantzoukas.
“The exciting thing is that we outnumber you,” director Reitman announced. He peeled back the cover to reveal the first page of the early-draft script of Linklater’s 1993 classic to show the long list of characters. “The Duff” star Mae Whitman (right) got Matthew McConaughey’s scene-stealing role, a surprise when she rolled out “Alright, alright, alright.”
Reitman prohibited the crowd from taking any photos or recording anything. “This is one thing that can’t be streamed,” he said before the read.
Van Der Beek sat dead center, appropriate for his role as high school quarterback star “Pink”.
Nick Kroll played so many voices that when he ran out on a bit character named “Elvis”, he just did an impression of Elvis Presley. “I was wondering what day you would run out of voices,’ Reitman joked to him, breaking the scene for a moment.
Prop 8 plaintiffs Jeff Zarrillo and Paul Katami joined Wilson Cruz and former “Queer as Folk” star Peter Paige to “Rock Out” at Out magazine’s bash at Lure on March 11.
Katy Perry stylist Johnny Wukek DJ’d the Lexus-sponsored bash. It was packed on a Wednesday.
