Fans say the actor gave an Emmy-worthy performance on Sunday’s show
Peter Dinklage‘s fiery performance on Sunday’s episode of HBO’s “Game of Thrones” excited fans — inspiring them to make the hashtag #FreeTyrion go viral.
The actor’s character, Tyrion Lannister, was on trial for King Joffrey’s murder and wouldn’t go down without a fight.
“Father, I wish to confess. I wish to confess,” Tyrion said in the gripping scene. “I’m guilty. Guilty. Is that what you want to hear?”
“You admit you poisoned the king?” Tywin asks him.
“No, of that I’m innocent,” Tyrion said. “I’m guilty of a far more monstrous crime — I’m guilty of being a dwarf.”
Tyrion ends the scene by calling for a “trial by combat” which stirs the crowd into a frenzy.
“Game of Thrones” fans responded in awe, calling his performance “the most powerful monologue” they had ever seen.
#FreeTyrion quickly swept social media by storm, with many people saying the actor deserved another Emmy.
