The actor provided an inimitable presence in his movie roles throughout a career that spanned more than 50 years
‘Goodbye Mr. Chips’ was released the year I graduated from high school, and I was completely impressed. But, I'd have to say that his presence in ‘The Last Emperor’ (nearly 20 years later) is probably my most favorite of his performances.
I loved all of his films, but the best in my opionion was Masada, The Lion in Winter, and Becket… I will greatly miss him….
You completely left out his role as a Caeser in Caligula. Very good work he did in that film.
He was great and on film he will live forever. The Night of the Generals where he played a sick murdering German General was something, as was The Stuntman.
A great, great actor. To this day “Good, Mr. Chips”, makes me cry. A beautiful movie graced by Mr. O'Toole's workmanship. Rest In Peace.
