The former Magnolia executive is joining ICM’s international and independent department

Peter Van Steemburg, former Vice President of Acquisitions at Magnolia Pictures, has joined ICM Partners’ international and independent department, headed by Jessica Lacy, the company announced Wednesday.

“Peter is regarded in the film community as a collaborative executive with great taste,” said Lacy in a statement. “We’re tremendously pleased to welcome him to our side of the negotiating table. He will be a valuable asset to our team and to our clients.”

Van Steemburg joined Magnolia Pictures and Magnet Releasing in 2008, and during his tenure, worked on the negotiation of films such as Joe Swanberg‘s “Drinking Buddies,” Lars von Trier‘s “Nymphomaniac,” Nicolas Winding Refn‘s “Bronson” and others.

Van Steemburg began his film career at the international distribution division of Miramax Films before joining the film finance department at Cinetic Media.
