Dubbed Popechella, Comedy Central character quips: “Just like Coachella, it's got a party atmosphere and a lack of contraception”
Stephen Colbert‘s weekend trip was more elaborate than yours: the Comedy Central character attended the canonization of popes John Paul II and John XXIII, or what he dubbed, “Popechella.”
“Just like Coachella, it's got a party atmosphere and a lack of contraception,” the comedian quipped.
Pope Francis and Benedict XVI also attended the ceremony, leading Colbert to joke: ”There were so many popes, you could not swing a dead pope without hitting one.”
But there was an ulterior motive to getting the requisite relics — one piece of skin and one blood-filled vile — from the deceased leaders of the Catholic church, Colbert uncovered.
“They're building a Franken-pope!” he concluded.
