President Obama Starts Reddit AMA, Site Crashes

Barack Obama invited Redditors to AMA — ask him anything. Perhaps they should ask how the site's servers can be improved under heavy traffic

President Barack Obama invited Reddit users on Wednesday to AMA — ask him anything — and crashed the site under the heavy load of traffic that ensued.

The site crashed as tens of thousands of users flocked to the query page to probe the president on all sorts of issues.

"Hey everybody – this is barack," he posted alongside a photo purportedly verifying him. "Just finished a great rally in Charlottesville, and am looking forward to your questions."

Yet, the community remained skeptical.

"For proof, did he send you a picture of him holding a dated index card?" a user named demany asked. "Or did the Secret Service land a helicopter on your house?"

Yet the company's founder Alexis Ohanian reportedly said that Obama is logging on from the same city — Charlottesville, Va. — where he founded the company.
