Obama’s Los Angeles Arrival to Close Down Major Westside Streets

The leader of the free world will be presented with the USC Shoah Foundation’s highest honor on Wednesday

In you’re reading this Wednesday afternoon while stuck in (extra) traffic on Los Angeles’ Westside, it’s probably because President Obama is in town.

The Commander-in-Chief is attending the Institute for Visual History and Education’s 2014 Ambassadors for Humanity Gala at the USC Shoah Foundation.

Institute founder Steven Spielberg will present Obama with its highest honor, recognizing the president’s “global efforts to protect human rights, his commitment to education and expanding educational technology, and his work advancing opportunities for all people,” according to the website.

As a result, areas will be shut down around Pico Boulevard between Motor Avenue and Beverly Glen Road from 4 to 6 p.m., according to the Los Angeles Times’ L.A. Now section. The area around Santa Monica Boulevard and Beverly Glen Road will also be closed during that window.

From 6 to 8 p.m., the area around Sunset Boulevard and Beverly Glen will be shut down. From 6 to 11 p.m., the area around Avenue of the Stars and Santa Monica Boulevard will be closed.

Metro bus routes including the 4, 16, 316, 704, 20 and 720 lines will also be affected by the street closures.
