‘Princess Bride’ Director Rob Reiner Will Join Cary Elwes, Jason Reitman for Academy’s First Live Commentary

As you wish! The Academy kicks off its live-commentary series with the 1987 cult hit

It'll be like watching your "Princess Bride" DVD with the commentary turned on — only director Rob Reiner, star Cary Elwes and Jason Reitman will actually be in the room.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced Monday morning that it had chosen the film for its inaugural live commentary event, which goes down Aug. 15 at 7:30 at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills.

Elwes, who played the dashing Man in Black on a quest to save a beautiful princess (Robin Wright) from an evil prince, will be on hand to presumably share anecdotes and behind-the-scenes details with Reiner.

Reitman was not involved in the project — but is not new to this type of live event. The "Up in the Air" filmmaker regularly directs all-star casts through live readings of classic film screenplays for Film Independent at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.

Tickets for the event are $5 for the general public and $3 for Academy members.
