The Most and Least Liked TV Newscasters – From Scott Pelley to Chris Matthews

The Most and Least Liked TV Newscasters – From Scott Pelley to Chris Matthews

The latest edition in TheWrap's Q Score series reveals MSNBC's “Hardball” host is ranked dead last among his media peers

What do you want in a newscaster? Accuracy? Ethics? A voice of reason in times of duress?

Or do you just want to like your anchor?

If the last part is most important to you, then channel-surf no further than Scott Pelley of the “CBS Evening News.” The newsman topped TheWrap‘s list of most and least-liked newscasters, based on survey results from the Q Scores company.

Pelley's 19 Positive Q Score, which measures likeability, helped him just beat the No. 2 guy, CNN's Anderson Cooper, who had an 18. Cooper's 56 Recognizability score places him among the highest on this list.

“Hardball” host Chris Matthews struck out with the lowest likeability score of all.

To create Q Scores, executive vice president Henry Schafer and his team provides a personality's name and a brief description to more than 1,800 viewers. The viewers are asked if they recognize the person, and how they feel about him or her.

Compared to other TV personalities — from late-night hosts to morning hosts — newscasters tend to be less recognizable and less liked. (Maybe it's a case of blaming the messenger?)

In third place among newscasters, a point behind the “AC 360” host, is Lara Logan, best known for CBS’ “60 Minutes.”

NBC newsman Brian Williams ties for fourth with CNN “New Day” hosts Chris Cuomo and Kate Bolduan, each of whom scored a 15. That number is still good enough to place them just above the average newscaster Q Score of 14, based on a study of 61 total newscasters by the metric company.

Everyone listed underneath Bolduan would be considered below average in terms of the measurement. That group includes Diane Sawyer, who is the only person more recognizable than Cooper, per the study. She scored a 13 for likeability.

The Fox News gang landed in the back half of the pack. Though Fox rules cable news ratings, Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity and Shepard Smith all scored below-average 10s.

Matthews had a lowly 6 Positive Q Score. Fellow MSNBCer Alex Wagner is just above her colleague, scoring an 8. Andrea Mitchell, Leslie Stahl and Dr. Sanjay Gupta round out the bottom five, each earning a 9.

Editor's note: TheWrap requested Q Scores for the following news media personalities, but scores were not available: Bret Baier, Brian Stelter, Brooke Baldwin, Candy Crowley, Chris Hayes, Don Lemon, Erin Burnett, Greta Van Susteren, Jake Tapper, John Berman, Megyn Kelly, Ronan Farrow and Wolf Blitzer

NEWSCASTERS-QSCORE-THEWRAP

  • Jim

Margaret Brennan should take over the CBS Evening News, but why ruin a great career with a 30 minute news broadcast, failing in the ratings ever since the birth of 24/7 news.

  • Jim

Piers Morgan a 52, and he's losing his job.

    • hankrbradley

      And his mind!

    • megashred13

Because he is a terrible personality.

    • gop-sfb

      He's a Trump find!

  • Cranky Cowboy

Sorry but not all these people are “newscasters/anchors.” At least half are “talk/opinion show” hosts.

  • dso1

This just shows that viewers don't know what they vote for. Lara Logan is a disgraced reporter who made up stories to juice up her report and was fired. Morely Safer is so old his skin creeks; Diane Sawyer doesn't know where she is half the time and shows up drunk on set. Give me a break!

    • hankrbradley

hey I'd still would……when it comes to Diane Sawyer, LOL

      • DUCINNI

LAUGHING!!!!!!!!!!!!! you read my mind. I just hope she is better in …. then her reporting.

    • yellowdogdemocrat

“Creaks” not creeks. A creek is a small stream of water.

    • ange purs

So old is bad? How do you know Sawyer is drunk on set? What break should we give you…one that doesnt “creek,” or one that doesnt creak, or what?

  • Jonas Grumby

I'm about as liberal as can be and I LOATHE Chris Matthews. He never let's guests finish speaking. Hell, he starts interrupting them on the first sentence. He acts like this is just all some game that he and his buddies get to play. He needs fewer guests and slow the damned thing down.

He's just terrible. Amusing to me that he is probably something the Left and Right can agree upon. Maybe I should thank him for sucking.

    • DCGirl

I recognize him…I do believe I saw him in a DC salon with foil in his hair! Seriously!

      • Barrs Saulzberg

it's funny he made the list as a newscaster, he's a hack pundit and not even a very good one.

        • 4low2go

He gets worse as time goes by.

    • gop-sfb

He also says he leans left and continuously sucks up to the right. He's as phoney as an Issa investigated scandal!

      • rosetta_stoned

continuously sucks up to the right

Chris Matthews sucks up to the right. Now, I've heard everything.

        • MadMikey

I think they meant: “Chris Matthews sucks, when compared to the right>!

      • Likeit ornot

gop, you are some kind of stupid if you think Mathews sucks up to the right. He gets tingles down his leg when Obama talks.

        • White Hawk

Not down, … up his leg!

    • DUCINNI

I use to like Chris, but I was getting tried of him letting his guest get away with inaccurate information. Then he started spewing Government Propaganda, like all American News Media

      • lvrich

Especially FUX News Instead they should call the Koch channel

        • MadMikey

Good idea! Then we can call MSNBC the Soros channel.

          • 4low2go

            Abso fing lutely.

    • yellowdogdemocrat

Mathews is very intelligent and knowledgeable about politics but I quit watching him because he filibusters his questions. He won't ask a simple question and then shut up and let his guest answer it, he rants on and on and on. He takes 5 minutes to ask the question and then cuts them off after 30 seconds. And very rarely will he challenge a rightwingnutter.

    • Steve Perry

Cable News is the minor leagues when compared to Broadcast News Ratings.

NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams alone gets over 9 Million viewers a night and gets more viewers than O'Reilly, Hannity, Greta, and Kelly COMBINED!!!

    • 4low2go

I wouldn't know about Chris, haven't watched him for 13 years. He was partly sane back then.

  • Rin

I think Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy, hosting a “news” show, would score higher ratings than some of the talking heads listed.

  • Danimal

Apparently, only management at MSNBC like Chrissy-poo. Says a lot about them.

  • Stevie Wonder

Many on the list are not news casters. Nobody at MSNBC is a newscaster. Bill O'Reilly and Shaun Hannity at Fox are not newscasters. Dr Sanja Grupta is not a newscaster. Piers Morgan is nothing at all, certainly not a newscaster. So gee, this list is rather stupid.

    • DUCINNI

      LAUGHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU!!!!!

    • springer

At least they must recognize that crazy Rev Al isn't a newscaster.

      • Steve Perry

        Top Evening News shows (viewers):
        #1 – NBC Nightly News w/Brian Williams = 9.40 million
        #2 – ABC World News w/ Diane Sawyer = 8.47 million
        #3 – CBS Evening News w/ Scott Pelley = 7.49 million
        …….FOX The Factor w/ Bill O'Reilly = 2.96 million

Cable News is the minor leagues when compared to the Big Boys

        • Brent

The Factor is not a news show! It's a talk show.

          • 4low2go

O'Reilly is opinion not news. If you watched him he will tell you that.

          • Steve Perry

I know that but Republicans and Foxtards believe it's news

          • joeskate

Reublicans/democrats…These two parties are controlled by the same people. It creates illusion of choice. Divide and conquer! The media helps sell the illusion.

“There is no such thing, at this date of the world’s history, in America, as an independent press. You know it and I know it. There is not one of you who dares to write your honest opinions, and if you did, you know beforehand that it would never appear in print. I am paid weekly for keeping my honest opinion out of the paper I am connected with. Others of you are paid similar weekly salaries for similar things, and any of you who would be so foolish as to write honest opinions would be out on the streets looking for another job. If I allowed my honest opinions to appear in one issue of my paper, before twenty-four hours my occupation would be gone. The business of the journalists is to destroy the truth; to lie outright; to pervert; to vilify; to fawn at the feet of mammon, and to sell his country and his race for his daily bread. You know it and I know it, and what folly is this toasting an independent press? We are the tools and vassals of rich men behind the scenes. We are the jumping jacks, they pull the strings and we dance. Our talents, our possibilities, and our lives are all the property of other men. We are intellectual prostitutes.”
            – John Swinton, former New York Times Chief of Staff

          • joeskate

None of these people report news. They deliver propaganda and opinion. Operation Mocking Bird has been in full effect.

The CIA owns everyone of any significance in the major media.”
            – William Colby, former CIA director

“Deception is a state of mind and the mind of the State.”
            – James Angleton, head of CIA counter intelligence from 1954-1974

        • blueslideguitar

If Fox news is so minor league, why is the left so obsessed with silencing it? They have CNN, MSNBC, CBS, NBC, and ABC to parrot their point of view, but they just can't stand it that somebody would have the gall to disagree with them. They come up with insulting names for Fox like Fux or Faux, call people who watch it Foxtards, and so on. You see, nobody can have a legitimate disagreement with a liberal – anybody who does is either stupid, or a liar, or a crook.

    • ange purs

Soooo, how do YOU define a news caster? Example? Is it someone who doent read cue cards? Un-stupid us please.

    • RickDC

Thats true they included commentators in the study. They should divide them to a separate list.

    • Izabella Hamilton

      Tamron Hal at MSNBC is.

      • joeskate

        Nope! She is not!

    • joeskate

Correct! They are government/corporate propagandist and apologists.

“The CIA owns everyone of any significance in the major media.”

  • Blanche Blevins

I LIKE Chris Matthews. What some see as rudeness I see as passion!

    • hankrbradley

Then take the blinders off Blanche!

      • SK Rob

        Oh go have an Ensure.

    • superdog

Wow. What a keen observation. You validate this douche bags rudeness, as passion.? How about, mean spirited, idiotic, rude, classless, obnoxious, boring, and an all around :MISFIT”.?

      • SK Rob

        That is O'Reilly you're describing.

  • hankrbradley

Fox News dominates the ratings but their news folks are in the bottom half? Does not compute!

    • jer

Faux is not a real news channel….just a bunch of book selling stepford wife's just repeating what they are told over and over and over and over and over and over again !!!!! fair and balanced ? HAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHA !

      • hankrbradley

You are another liberal who can't see the forest for the trees! I gave up suffering fools long ago! So I won't get into with you , but suffice it to say the vast majority of viewers watch FOX. Deal with it, roflmao, just the facts instead of meaningless drivel please!

        • kecward78

Fox has 2 to 3 times the viewers as MSNBC… but only half the number at ABC or NBC and less than 1/3 at CBS. Ratings do NOT equal quality of journalism.

          • MadMikey

Actually FOX has more viewers than MSNBC, CNN, ABC, CBS and NBC combined for news.

          • Steve Perry

            LMAO at MadMikey

When FUX news actually has facts let me know. I want them to have the Repub congressman back on that said global warming is a myth made up by dems to stop oil drilling. Ugh

          • MadMikey

What?? You mean Flight 370 actually DID disappear down a ‘black hole’ or a ‘worm hole'? If THAT represents facts, I am switching to MSNBC!!

        • SK Rob

The Jerry Springer got rave ratings, as well, as does Honey Boo Boo. See where I'm going here?

      • Archrq

lol, I stopped taking you seriously at Faux :)

      • BrettWinterble

Stepford Wives, unless you were implying that Fox News is the Possession of THE STEPFORD WIFE– which makes less sense.

      • MadMikey

At least they don't orgasm and get tingles up their leg when Obama speaks. I guess you think that the idea of Flight 370 disappearing into a ‘worm hole’ or a ‘black hole’ presented seriously on these channels is called a ‘news channel'?

        • SK Rob

It's clear that you're the one with a fixation on Obama (or maybe you're worried that your wife has one).

      • notfondoflibs

You probably never watch Fox News pal, so how would you know what they say and who says it. People like are typical of the crowd that disparages anyone who disagrees with Obama. That you have to use the “Faux” tag is indicative of the low info crowd. That “HAHA” routine is real cute too. It's typical of people with high school mentalities. Nice try though, pal. Back in your cage.

        • Guest

Right! And don't forget your kool-aid on your way out the door!

    • gop-sfb

National Enquirer outsells The New York Times, that doesn't make it credible journalism!

      • hankrbradley

Mention a credible news source and not the New York Times and I will accept your comment as substantial in nature. Myself and the vast majority of listeners to the news watch Fox as opposed to the Obama news casts on the definitely lame stream media. Deal with it!

        • lvrich

When has FUX ever reported the news. Its coverage consists of Obamacare, Benghazi, the IRS and the idiot, I mean ISSA

          • MadMikey

Oh, you mean the disasters that the liberal media never mentions? Try finding anything about California State Senator Lee arrested for ‘gun running’ on MSNBC or CNN..

      • MadMikey

Who says the New York Times is credible journalism?

    • krsdone

Fox news” dominates” cable. Not all news. You bought into the marketing spin. When they say they lead, they lead Msnbc and Cnn, Fox fails to mention that all the big 3 are way ahead in viewership but if you do not pay for news they consider it irrelevant. Their philosophy of new order privatization where the only news that matters is marketed ideologies paid for and catered to the far left, far right and middle of the road Cnn, unless you buy into the marketing that it is some extreme far left communist organization. I'm sure that if it was cable only you would see Fox cable news casters rated higher. Or better yet a Fox news poll in which the top 10 would all be Fox news. And Karl Rove would declare Romney president.

      • SK Rob

Fox News is also a part of basic cable, meaning that it's available to everyone at no extra cost. CNN and MSNBC are not. It's math and has nothing at all to do with the credibility of Fox (which is at zero with anyone with an education)

        • MadMikey

Yup! MSNBC is right up there at the top for credibility! I don't know why 15 nations continue their search for Flight 370 when MSNBC already stated it disappeared down either a ‘black hole’ or a ‘worm hole'. Sounds credible to ME!

    • joninsacramento

Simple. Cable companies like Comcast and ATT U-verse include Fox News with their basic discount package but MSNBC requires viewer to pay for a more expensive channel package.

      • Brent

Most cable companies include CNN and MSNBC with their basic package.

    • SK Rob

      Bahhhhhh bahhhh.

      Clueless.

    • Steve Perry

Fox News does NOT dominate the news ratings…take a look:

      Top Evening News shows (viewers):
      #1 – NBC Nightly News w/Brian Williams = 9.40 million
      #2 – ABC World News w/ Diane Sawyer = 8.47 million
      #3 – CBS Evening News w/ Scott Pelley = 7.49 million
      …….FOX The Factor w/ Bill O'Reilly = 2.96 million

  • Alan

They didn't include Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert in the list of ‘newscasters?” What kind of survey was this???

    • Sectionhand

The survey was bad enough without them .

    • Grandpas Delight

Now there is the rub…. They are comedians and yet people take their shows as “true” news casts. That explains a lot right there.

      • SK Rob

No one views their shows as news programs but millions and millions realize that they can get a straighter scoop on the news from two comedians.

  • Jon

Does Bob Schieffer count, because I really like him?

  • Sectionhand

Matthews rating is well deserved . Besides … he's a hack political operative … NOT a journalist !

    • SK Rob

As opposed to whom? Hannity or O'Reilly? One of the three actually has first-hand knowledge and experience in politics. You guess which one.

      • MadMikey

Are you saying Matthews does have ‘first-hand’ knowledge of politics? BWAAAA HAAAA HAAAAAA!

  • Bill Walker

And just where are Megan Kelley and Greta Van Susteren? Leave them off the list for a specific reason, did we?

    • superdog

Their sin is being on The Fox network. Talent be damned.

      • SK Rob

        They suck ass.

    • gop-sfb

      They scored too low!

    • Grandpas Delight

      Yeah, they rock.

    • ironeck

Megan is awesome. She doesn't let them slither out of the questions.

    • SK Rob

      Does your wife know?

      Get a grip dude.

  • Angel Perea

KEEPING IT THOUGHTFULLY HONEST: Besides Anderson Cooper and Scoot Pelley, where are my other three favorites? Bob Schiefer, Lawrence O’ Donnel and Stephie Colbert! They are refreshing factually honest!

  • Jernagan

I love Chris Matthews and really like Alex Wagner really like Martin Bashir, fired for a stupid reason. Palin should eat sh–

    • Grandpas Delight

Hater. No wonder you love Matthews.

      • Jernagan

Hter of what? Be specific or shut up

      • Jernagan

Chris and Alex tell it like it is

      • SK Rob

Palin is a hateful, vulgar bitch and I wouldn't spit on her if I saw her on fire.

  • Richard Stehr

My problem with Diane Sawyer is that she always looks like she's about to cry. The newscaster I find the most likeable, by far, is NBC's Brian Williams.

    • ironeck

Williams has eyebrows that look like single quotation marks. He's funny.

  • Jernagan

Matthews, Wagner and Bashir, tell it like it is. some people don't like the truth

    • DUCINNI

@Jernagan I was a Loyal MSNBC viewer for years, until Chris was letting his guest get away with false information, he wouldn't call them to the carpet and I was getting sick of it. He is scared of losing his job. Wagner is so so, Intelligent, but so so. Bashir was great with his Birt sarcastic wit, like Christopher Hitchins, but he started with the phony MSNBC laugh after every lame joke, making him look lame. Joy Ann Reid LOVED her because she is Intelligent, Sharpe and had all her FACTS lined up, until she made the IGNORANT statement to Wagner, “No!! woman reports a false rape”. After I picked my jaw off my knee, I never watched her again. I “”LOVED”" O'Donald until he started spewing Government Propaganda. Tamron Hall liked her until she wouldn't report the whole story, the same goes for Al Shapton. Big Ed, I stopped watching him because i was getting tried of, “What do you think, Do you like Chocolate Ice Cream text A for YES and B for NO”. In other words he was having the viewer reply to stupid *&^%& and another thing was he would read viewer's questions, “Sally from Sacramento ask “Hey Big Ed, why do they call you Big Ed??” In other words nothing of real importance, “Hey Big Ed did you watch the documentary “IRAQ FOR SALE: The War Profiteers”??” or “Why aren't you reporting about the Cop Beating Death of the Homeless Man in California??” or “The MURDER of the Homeless Man in New Mexico by APD Cops and all these cops getting away with MURDERING U.S CITIZENS??” or “What do you think about Obama not jailing Wall Street CEO's??” I like Maddow because she is Intelligent and will admit to a wrong and correct it on air, and you can count on her FACTS to be the TRUTH. Chris Hayes is the only one I have any respect for at MSNBC. MSNBC has become a JOKE and the man who runs it …… wants it to be a JOKE “”AND”" he enjoys wearing pink panties, PHIL GRIFFIN. He is a Conservative and HATES the Doormat Democrats.

      • Jernagan

I think Maddow is is the best

    • ironeck

BASHIR? The one that wanted to &^%% in Palin's mouth and eyes? Yea, he's quite a prize all right. Fire his sorry @$$.

      • SK Rob

That's not what he said so take your spin to the hate site. And as far as I know, Bashir has never put crosshairs on a politician's district and told people to lock and load, resulting in that very politician being shot in the head.

        Now piss off.

  • Gregman2

    ridiculous.

  • Repubtallygirl

    Not believing this at all.

  • jcadams

I am not here to fall in love. I don't care if the journalist isn't warm and cuddly. Or isn't slick with great hair. Glenn Greenwald probably has a negative Q-score. The world needs more journalists like Mr. Greenwald. I like my journalists to be edgy risk takers. Really credible journalists who have the integrity and guts to get the real story out. And not worry about their hair, popularity or offending advertisers. Or hacking off the establishment.

    • gfstiel

      Well written Mr. Greenwald.

      • Beth

you mean ANOTHER Greenwald sockpuppet has been discovered?

    • DUCINNI

Exactly, I want my REPORTER(S) TO REPORT THE “FACTS” AND “THE TRUTH”. and I don't want to hear recycled News, what they reported on at 4 o'clock pm they serve over again by the next 5 reporters that follow til midnight. I want a Reporter(s) who doesn't care if they will lose their job for calling a Politician a LAIR to his/her face and play clips showing their LYING. I want my reporter(s) to stop taking sides Dem or Rep, I want them all exposed for their LIES. I want my Reporter to be my Best of Friends and give it to me between the eyes with reality. Not like the Christian Preacher/Priest taking me to the basement of the church so he can have his way with me.

  • gop-sfb

I see that Piers Morgan has the same ranking as Bill O'reilly. Hopefully that means that O'reilly's propaganda hour will be canceled

    • eyedrs54

That seems likely, he has been number 1 for, what, 12-14 years? I am sure he will be cancelled soon.

  • Dave

How come Anderson Cooper is so well liked but nobody watches him? These people even skew the polls that don't mean anything.

  • mdlib

Matthews is a real jerk in real life. My niece works at MSNBC and interacts with all the people there. She said most are pretty nice except Matthews who treats the staff like dogs. She mainly works on Documentaries deals a lot with Rachael Maddow and says she is really nice and very supportive of her ambition.

    • gfstiel

Probably trying to get in your nieces pants.

      • SK Rob

Typical neocon…always goes into issues related to sex. Tsk. Come out, come out.

  • zizitsu

Love it, all three MSNBC reporters out do Faux News, Insanity and O”Really..lol…

    • Beth

You may note that there are a LOT of “Faux News” reporters and analysts not on there, including the main news reporters themselves. Let's see how all three MSNBC “reporters” (ha!) stack up against the others they did not include, such as Bret Baier, Shepard Smith, Neil Cavuto, etc. No Megyn Kelly or Greg Gutfeld or Greta Van Susteren or any of the others, either. So, sorry, your childish comment is complete bullshit. Maybe when you grow up you can spell names correctly, too.
Anyway, it's 1800 people's opinions. The ratings are what count. Maybe they asked all of MSNBC's 1800 viewers. LOL

      • zizitsu

Oh wow, did I hit a sensitive nerve, maybe you are the one that needs to grow up, and try and post a comment without using profanity. Most reasonable Americans realize Faux isn't a news channel, but a mouthpiece for the republican party, so I wear any insult from a Foxhound as a compliment.

        • Abby Normal

Yes that is why their ratings are so much higher than everyone elses, because all of the “reasonble Americans” are watching the suck ups on the other channels.

      • SK Rob

Ratings don't indicate the quality of the program or it's credibility. Why are neocons so profoundly stupid?

      • SK Rob

Transformers, the movie, sold more tickets than did Howard's End. Is it a better film that should have won an Oscar?

Do you actually need this shit explained to you?

    • ironeck

Trouble is FOX outrates MSNBC 3 to one. Jokes on you, low info voter. HAHHAHAHA

      • SK Rob

There have been 7 different university studies over the last 6 or 7 years about how well-informed viewers of different news channels are and in every single study (all at different universities and done at different times), it was Fox News Channel viewers who were the least-informed by a big margin. In fact, people that reported to not watch any news on television were more informed than Fox News viewers.

        Low information voters, indeed.

  • Grandpas Delight

This is a laughable BS popularity contest. Just give us the truth but everyone of those bozos listed are nothing but propaganda kings/queens.

  • swalt2493

You people can't handle the truth so you delete my post … typical liberals. Don't like the truth so you burn it, just like Hitler did with all the books. You day is coming. I can't wait for it …

    • SK Rob

Oh, a martyr with a victim complex. You come across as weak, whiny and impotent.

    • SK Rob

Our day is coming for what? Speak up already.

Shove your threat up your Palin-loving ass. You are the only ones who are armed

  • avotingamerican

I am glad Chris Matthews scored so low because he is one person who puts it out there, irrespective of public opinion. I have always admired his candor and ability to put the propagandists on the hot seat. People don't want truth. They want lies and entertainment. Chris isn't having it. A thousand thumbs up for that.

  • eyedrs54

I would like to read how each is “briefly described.” It seems “newscasters” is a very loosely defined term. I also do not see how someone can have low recognizably but a very high overall score (and why were numbers not “available” for so many well known reporters?). To me that seems like the standard deviation would be too high. Who really cares actually but, unfortunately, many stations and reports/articles will site this as if it was meaningful.

  • mfb1949

The Real Housewives of New Jersey are conspicuously absent. Usual lamestream media tactics.

    • SK Rob

Oh poor you. Neocons are quite the victims. Pitiful.

      • mfb1949

I should've been clearer, my attempt at irony went too far and tripped over into believability. I'm faaaaar left, even have a shop named WingNOT depot. Mike

  • mfb1949

    And where is Wolf Blitzer???

    • ironeck

      Who's Wolf Blister?

      • SK Rob

That you don't know tells us everything we need know about you, oh irrelevant one.

  • mfb1949

Oh yeah, he's a carnival barker.

  • Germanicus .

The Wrap is an entertainment site. Self described as a “Hollyblogger.” Just to put things into perspective… Not surprising they wouldn't value an honest and serious albeit cantankerous editorialist over the other tailored suit and pepsodent smiled timeslot fillers.

    • SK Rob

So is Fox News Channel, according to it's owner, Rupert Murdoch.

  • axemole

another biased hollywood site pretending to be independent and objective… barf

    • SK Rob

Oh poor you. Didn't get your daily dose of confirmation bias?

  • NC_Progressive

Annoys me that Lara Logan is so high up on the list when she was the one who had the supposed witness on 60 Minutes about Benghazi who turned out to be nothing but a fake. Gee, I seem to remember when something similar to that happened to Dan Rather, he lost his job. Now Lara Logan rates #3 on the Wrap Q Scores. Hmmm.

  • http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Arel Harry R. Sohl

“Though Fox rules cable news ratings, Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity and Shepard Smith all scored below-average 10s.”

It's very unfair to bring their IQ scores into the article!

    • ironeck

You must watch faithfully. LOL You spelled all their names correctly.

      • SK Rob

Harry must be a liberal then. Does it shock you when you encounter people that spell correctly?

  • Me and mini me

Some of these ‘newscasters’ are BS casters. Hannity, O'rielly, Mattews…they're not newscasters!

    • ironeck

Matthews is a shrill little girl.

  • Likeit ornot

,What did they do, poll “The Views” audience?

  • brando

And yet, thank god that good journalists don't need to be popular. In fact, if they're not popular, it probably means they ARE doing their job.

  • cwon1

Of course the list is bogus partisan (leftist) drivel. Maddow in the middle with idiot Sawyer at 7??

    LOL

    • SK Rob

Get your confirmation bias elsewhere, simpleton.

  • chayalaya

Wait a minute – Lara Logan was fired for making stuff up. Who were you interviewing for this poll?

  • Honey Badger Don't Care

Why do you use Q scores? Why not post a poll, and let us decide who we like? I feel like the choice has been made for us. I never participated in any Q score survey.

    • SK Rob

Well perhaps everyone will stop the world just for you, lest you feel left out again.

  • NobodyzSpecialAnymore

So I went to Q Scores “Blog”. Yes, blog. There isn't any list of how they come to their conclusions. Just conclusions and this whopper “The recognized industry standard for measuring consumer appeal of personalities, characters, licensed properties, programs and brands.” Well I can certainly believe it's the industry standard. Like using a broken yardstick to measure the distance between NYC and LA. But it's the “Industry Standard.” Really puts it into perspective, doesn't it?

  • Kelly Cowan

    Who cares?

  • News Hound

Love Tamron Hall. As for Fox News-an oxymoron if there ever was one (w/ emphasis on moron.)

    • oldaarpy

Then don't watch it! Your loss!

      • SK Rob

Have an Ensure and a nap.

  • News as Entertainment

Sorry, but not one of these people should be considered a newscaster. They are as much a newscaster as the host of Entertainment Tonight, and a ratings war loser away from being the next Jerry Springer. Every one of them are entertainers, plain and simple. TV news has gone from trying to report things accurately, to news as entertainment. Fox is just as fair and balanced as CBS, ABC or NBC. You might get fair and balanced if you watched Fox and one of the big 3 reports on the same thing.
Personally, I'd rather get my news reporting from the Wall Street Journal than any of the so-called TV news outlets. At least the journal is well written and sticks to facts.

    • SK Rob

Murdoch's rag? Oh well…carry on then.

  • Brandon

So did you guys leave Al Sharpton off because you didn't want the poll to be called racist when HE game in dead last?

    • SK Rob

Way to segue right into your racial animosity, dipshit.

  • ironeck

No one watches CNN. How can they even have recognized newscasters?

    • SK Rob

Is that what they tell you in DodoLand?

  • oldaarpy

Since when does Matthews have anything to do with “news”?

    • SK Rob

He has everything to do with politics, which is what his show is about. In fact, he's the only one with experience in the field.

      Now hush.

  • Daniel the bruce

I find ANYTHING listing Piers Morgan above ANYBODY suspect. AND if he could REALLY come in that high he would still have a program. looking at the list I suspect most of the interviewees are CNN viewers

  • ldo

    LOL..

  • Robert Teglia

Hey all you lefties out there. First you need to know that this so-called survey was conducted by a hollywood web site called “The Wrap.” So go ahead and take their word as gospel at your own peril and stupidity. Second, 6 of the “newscasters” were from MSNBC, 6 more were from CNN, and only 3 from FOX. What happened to Greta Van Sustern and Megyn Kelly from FOX? Oh, by the way, FOX News outdraws MSNBC and CNN combined in viewership. Put that in your pipe and keep smoking the liberal lunacy you love to brag about.

    • SK Rob

Shhhh. Go back to your side. It'll be okay. Lots of confirmation bias there. They spoonfeed you idiots.

    • Steve Perry

Cable News is the minor leagues when compared to Broadcast News Ratings.

NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams alone gets over 9 Million viewers a night and gets more viewers than O'Reilly, Hannity, Greta, and Kelly COMBINED!!!!

  • ange purs

National news pgms (except for the likes of PBS and AJAM) have long been on a kick of giving us news-entertainment. At the beginning and just before every break, the anchors feel obligated to tell us what's coming up…least we tune them out. There is always a story or 3 that really isnt national “news”. It's a feel good filler of some sort…like doctors saving Gorilla babies using Cesarean section or someone with a horrible terminal illness doing good things for the neighborhood. How about news pgms that give us 1/2 half hr of what is truly national/international news?…the facts, essential background, and some depth. We dont need the historical overview of the same subject nite after nite for those who just happen to tune in once a month. Abbreviated news plus entertainment filler doesnt make it for me.

  • RickDC

Seems like the vast majority still get there news from the big three. Only cooper scored high and his shows ratings are really not very good. Seems like name recognition there.

  • ROSSMAN

The bottom is right, but the top is BULL!!

  • FireBlogger

I'm not buying any of this. The interviews drew from the same demo that can't name one senator let alone the V.P.. O'Reilly came in too low vs Maddow under any metric.

  • nobama1267

Shows how ignorant the public is.

  • bflat879

Half of those people are opinion journalists (and I use the second word with extreme caution). To me, the best “news anchor” is Brett Baer, and he's not even on the list.

    • A Smith

I was about to write the same thing. Sean Hannity's not a “news anchor,” he is a conservative commentator. Same with Maddow, but for Democrats.

  • Greg Weir

Rachel (I look like a 17 year old boy) Maddow? Chris (the race-baiter) Matthews? You have to be kidding me?

  • Steve Perry

Most people don't realize that Broadcast News destroys cable news when it comes to viewership and Ratings.

    Top Evening News shows (viewers):
    #1 – NBC Nightly News w/Brian Williams = 9.40 million
    #2 – ABC World News w/ Diane Sawyer = 8.47 million
    #3 – CBS Evening News w/ Scott Pelley = 7.49 million
    …….FOX The Factor w/ Bill O'Reilly = 2.96 million

    • Todd Cohen

Where your point falls short regarding this poll is the fact that Rachel Maddow, Anderson Cooper, & Tamron Hall all ranked higher on cable than anyone from Fox. Sorry, it's just not believable. Isn't Tamron Hall an afternoon host? What a joke of a poll. Fail.

      • Steve Perry

What point was I making…other than that Broadcast News destroys Cable News when it comes to Viewership?

  • gillyking

What a joke.. FoxNews programming routes the rest of them by a landslide, yet only 2 of their personalities make the list? typical msm… managed BS!

    • Steve Perry

      LOL, I don't think so.

NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams alone gets over 9 Million viewers a night and gets more viewers than O'Reilly, Hannity, Greta, and Kelly COMBINED!!!!

      • smokehouse56

Steve, you need some basic help. When you consider network availability in homes, the four Fox anchors show up pretty well. It's a left leaning poll to begin with but you are comparing apples and oranges. Do you think Williams, if on Fox, would do better than O'Reilly, Hannity, Greta, and Kelly COMBINED?

  • Johnny Alpha

Who did Maddcow blow to get out of the basement?

  • BongoSchwartz

    “Look, re-cycl-ing!!!”
    Thank you Diane,

  • Naoma M Fick

There is a difference in a News Commentator and a News Caster. A true news caster tells it like it is without Personal Opinions. A commentator has more leeway in his broad cast with allowable personal opinion.

  • Ken LeBlanc

Newscast: A radio or television broadcast of news reports.
Talkshow: A television or radio show in which various topics are discussed informally.

Don't feel bad. Most of America doesn't know the difference between news and infotainment either. We're mostly stupid and this is clear proof.

  • hp b

How many of these “A listers” have CIA liaisons (handlers)?

All things NBC should have been put out of their misery for just the attempt to frame Zimmerman alone. Those faked audios in front of God and everyone and then the back handed apology. C'mon Man!

  • Tom Mixx

Just get rid of the idiot box. I did it and the world didn't end. Who needs these useless talking heads?

  • Timberwolf

In my book they ALL are but scripted liars and deserve the Baghdad Bob Award for who can tell the biggest whopper with sincerity daily. They all make me ill.
