Ratings: ‘American Idol’ Snags First Place for Fox, But ‘Big Bang’ Bests All Shows

CBS and NBC lineups rise; “Mom” hits series highs

“American Idol” and Fox topped the demo ratings for the second night in a row, though CBS’s “The Big Bang Theory” pulled in the biggest individual show numbers of the night on Thursday.

Another CBS comedy, “Mom,” hit series highs across-the-board in primetime.

Fox was first in ratings with a 3.0 rating/9 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and first in viewers with an average of 11 million, according to preliminary numbers. “American Idol” at 8 was the only show on the network’s schedule.

CBS was second in ratings with a 2.4/7 and in viewers with 10.8 million. “The Big Bang Theory” at 8 earned night highs of a 4.5/14 and 17.8 million viewers. “Mom” at 8:30 rose to series highs of a 2.8/8 — up 22 percent  — and 12.3 million viewers. “Two and a Half Men” at 9 had a 2.2/6 and 10 million viewers. “The McCarthys” at 9:30 got a 1.7/5 and 7.9 million viewers. “Elementary” at 10 received a 1.4/4 and 8.4 million viewers.

Univision was third in ratings with a 1.2/4 and fourth in viewers with 3.1 million.

NBC was fourth in ratings with a 1.1/3 and third in viewers with 4.1 million. “The Biggest Loser” at 8 had a 1.3/4 and 5 million viewers. “Bad Judge” at 9 got a 0.8/2 and 3.1 million viewers. “A-to-Z” at 9:30 received a 0.6/2 and two million viewers. “Parenthood” at 10 pulled in a 1.4/4 and 4.6 million viewers.

ABC and Telemundo tied for fifth in ratings, both with a 0.8/2. ABC was fifth in viewers with three million; Telemundo was sixth in viewers with 1.8 million viewers.

For ABC, “The Taste” at 8 got a 0.9/3 and 3.2 million viewers. A rerun followed.

The CW was seventh in ratings with a 0.3/1 and in total viewers with 1.3 million. A movie ran.
