Ratings: ‘America’s Got Talent’ Up, Fox Wins Night

Though down slightly from last week, "So You Think You Can Dance" gives Fox a victory in key demographic

NBC's "America's Got Talent" saw a rise from last week and was the best-rated and most-watched program Wednesday night, but Fox took an overall ratings win with "So You Think You Can Dance," according to preliminary numbers.

Fox took first place in the advertiser-cherished 18-49 demographic and third in total viewers with a 1.7 rating/5 share and 5.1 million. Its entire primetime slate consisted of "So You Think You Can Dance" from 8 to 10 p.m., which was down 6 percent in the demo from last week.

NBC came in second in ratings but was the most-watched network of the night, averaging a 1.6/5 and 6 million total viewers. "The Clios '12: World's Best Commercials" at 8 posted a 1.2/4 and drew 4.9 million total viewers, while "America's Got Talent" the following hour was up 10 percent in the demo with a 2.2/6, taking the night's top rating spot, and receiving 8.7 million total viewers. "Jimmy Fallon's Primetime Music Special" at 10 closed out the evening with a 1.6/5 and 4.7 million total viewers.

CBS took third in ratings and second total viewers with an average 1.4/4 and 5.5 million. The network's sole original program for the night, "Big Brother" at 8, was down slightly in the demo from last week, posting a 1.9/7 and attracting 5.7 million total viewers.

ABC, which ran repeats throughout the night, came in fourth in ratings and total viewers with a 1.1/3 and 3.7 million.
