Fox's freshman drama "The Following" got a boost in the ratings Monday as it prepares to wrap its first season, while CBS's "Rules of Engagement" dropped to a series low and NBC won the night on the strength of "The Voice," according to preliminary numbers.
NBC took a commanding first place in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic with a 3.9 rating/11 share and came in second in total viewers with 11.3 million. "The Voice" at 8 p.m. drew a 4.8/13 — an 8 percent drop from last week, but still the night's best demo performance by far — and had 13.9 million total viewers. "Revolution" at 10 drew even with its last original episode two weeks ago, tying a series low of 2.2/6 and drawing 6.2 million total viewers.
ABC tied Fox for second place in the ratings with a 2.1/6 and took first place in total viewers with 13 million. "Dancing With the Stars" at 8 inched down to a 2.1/6, tying its series low for performance episodes, and had 13.6 million total viewers. "Castle" at 10 was up 10 percent from last week, posting a 2.2/6 and taking 11.7 million total viewers.
Fox took third place in total viewers with 6.9 million. "Bones" at 8 ran even with last week for a 1.9/6 and was up slightly in total viewers with 6.9 million. "The Following" at 9 climbed 14 percent, taking a 2.4/6 — the night's best performance for a drama — and drawing 7 million total viewers. Its season finale airs next week.
CBS came in fourth in ratings and total viewers with a 1.3/4 and 5 million. The network aired repeats except for "Rules of Engagement" at 8:30 which, without an original lead-in, dropped 29 percent from last week to a series low of 1.5/4 and had 4.6 million total viewers.
