Ratings: ‘Game of Thrones’ Season Finale Up From Last Year

"Game of Thrones" season ender draws 5.4 million total viewers

HBO's "Game of Thrones" ended its third season Sunday night with a bang, drawing 5.4 million total viewers — a 28 percent increase over the Season 2 finale.

The episode was also the second-most watched episode of the series, behind only the May 5 episode of this year, which drew 5.5 million total viewers.

Last Sunday's episode drew 5.22 million total viewers.

With an encore airing factored in, the "Game of Thrones" finale accumulated 6.3 million total viewers.

All told, the third season of "Game of Thrones" averaged a gross audience of 13.6 million total viewers, when linear plays, HBO on Demand, HBO Go and DVR viewings are taken into account. That's an increase of 2 million over last season's average, making "Game of Thrones" HBO's second most popular series in the channel's history, behind only "The Sopranos."
