The choir comedy got series high numbers for Fox, but “Running Wilde” faltered

Britney Spears has come a long way from her umbrella-throwing and head-shaving days: the pop star's "Glee" episode broke the series' ratings record Tuesday night, leading Fox to a win.

• "Glee's" Britney episode scored a whopping 5.8 rating/16 share in the key adults 18-49 demographic. Boosted by the strong lead-in from "Glee," "Raising Hope" posted a solid 3.2/9 from 9-9:30 p.m., up three percent from the series premiere last week. Not all the news was good for Fox: Will Arnett's "Running Wilde" lost 34 percent of "Raising Hope's" audience in Fox's final half hour of primetime. "Running Wilde" posted a 2.1/5, down 13 percent from its debut last week. Overall, Fox posted a 4.2/12 from 8-10 p.m.

• CBS landed in second place with a 3.4/9 primetime average thanks to strong performances from "NCIS" and "NCIS: LA." The two cop shows combined for a 3.9/11 from 8-10 p.m. CBS closed out the night with the season premiere of "The Good Wife," which posted a 2.5/7, down 19 percent from last year.
