HBO's "Phil Spector" biopic didn't exactly rise to the top of the charts with its Sunday premiere — but it certainly fared better than Spector himself has recently.
The movie, directed by David Mamet and starring Al Pacino as the ill-fated record producer, drew 754,000 viewers with its initial 9 p.m. airing. Combined with a midnight re-airing, the biopic drew 1 million total viewers.

Those aren't bad numbers for a premium-cable network such as HBO — but they don't make for blockbuster numbers. Consider the fact that the network's Sunday show "Game of Thrones" — which, granted, is a runaway hit — drew a series-high 4.2 million total viewers with its season finale last June, and a total of 5.1 million with a replay factored in.
"Phil Spector" did do better than last Sunday's season finale of "Girls," which drew 632,000 total viewers with the initial airing. The episode drew 1.1 million total viewers across three airings last Sunday.

"Spector" also faced heavy cable competition: The basic cable miniseries "The Bible," on History, grabbed 10.3 million total viewers Sunday.
