Ratings: ‘Last Comic Standing’ Premiere Packs Punch, But Dips From Last Year

Fox’s “Home Free” premiere tops CBS’ “Extant” in key demo, can’t keep up among total viewers

The season premiere “Last Comic Standing” helped NBC drop the mic on its competition last night, despite the reality series dipping from last summer’s debut.

That said, in 2014, the stand-up comedy contest premiered in mid-late May, as opposed to July.

For Fox, the season premiere of “Home Free” was fine in the key 18-49 demographic, but struggled among total viewers. Fox tied for second-place in the main demo with CBS, but the latter topped the former among overall audience.

NBC was first in ratings with a 1.4 rating/5 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and in total viewers with an average of 5.9 million, according to preliminary numbers. Following a rerun, “Last Comic Standing” at 9 p.m. posted a 1.5/5 and 6 million viewers.

CBS and Fox tied for second in ratings, both with a 1.1/4. CBS was second in total viewers with 5 million; Fox was third with 3.7 million.

For CBS, “Big Brother” at 8 earned a 1.8/7 and 5.8 million. “Extant” at 9 had a 0.7/2 and 4.3 million viewers. A repeat followed.

For Fox, “MasterChef” at 8 got a 1.4/6 and 4.4 million viewers. “Home Free” at 9 received a 0.9/3 and 2.9 million viewers.

ABC was fourth in ratings with a 0.8/3 and in viewers with 2.9 million, airing just reruns.

Univision and Telemundo tied for fifth in ratings, both with a 0.6/2. Univision was fifth in total viewers with 1.7 million; Telemundo was sixth with 1.5 million.

The CW was seventh in ratings with a 0.2/1 and in viewers with 869,000, airing repeats.
