Ratings: NBA Finals Pull Off Hat Trick; Tony Awards Up From Last Year

ABC sweeps the top three slots with hoops coverage; Neil Patrick Harris-hosted Broadway telecast enjoys a 9 percent bump over last year

Hoops are good for ABC, and Harris is good for Broadway.

ABC swept the evening on Sunday night, drawing the top three ratings slots with its coverage of the NBA Finals, while the Neil Patric Harris-hosted Tony Awards enjoyed an uptick in the ratings compared to last year's ceremony, according to preliminary numbers.

The showdown between the Miami Heat and the Dallas Mavericks on ABC at 8 p.m. scored an 8.6 rating/22 share in the adults 18-49 demo, handily beating last year's Game 6 by 21 percent, and 21 million total viewers. The game was preceded by "Jimmy Kimmel Game Night" at 7, which drew a 2.8/10 in the demo and 7.6 million total viewers; and "NBA Countdown" at 8:30, which took a 3.8/12 in the demo with 9.7 million total viewers.

On CBS, the 65th Annual Tony Awards — clearly boosted by its host and the expected shower of awards on the "The Book of Mormon" — at 8 was up 9 percent in the adults 18-49 demo over last year's awards show, drawing a 1.2/3 in the demo. and 6.9 million total viewers.

The evening started off for the network with "60 Minutes" at 7, which took a 1.1/4 in the demo and 9.1 million total viewers.

NBC's "Dateline" at 7 took a 0.8/3 in the demo and 3.5 million total viewers, with a "Minute to Win It" repeat the following hour 0.8/2 in the demo and 3.1 million total viewers. An "America's Got Talent" repeat at 9 took a 1.3/3 in the demo and 4.7 million total viewers.
