Ratings: NBA Finals Reign, ‘SYTYCD’ Holds Strong, ‘Love Bites’ Premieres Soft

Hoops beat out hoofing in last night’s race for viewers

Game 2 of the NBA Finals dominated in the ratings on Thursday night, while "So You Think You Can Dance" retained most of its audience from last week's season premiere and NBC's new romantic comedy "Love Bites" premiered to discouraging ratings, according to preliminary numbers.

The face-off between the Dallas Mavericks and the Miami Heat at 9 p.m. on ABC drew a 5.5 rating/16 share in the adults 18-49 demographic, easily trouncing the competition and matching Game 1's performance on Tuesday. The game also drew 13.1 million total viewers, slightly higher than Tuesday's 12.8 million total viewers. The game was preceded by "Jimmy Kimmel Live Game Night" at 8, which drew a 1.9/7 in the demo and 6.1 million total viewers, and "NBA Countdown" at 8:30, which took a 2.6/8 in the demo and 7.1 million total viewers.

On Fox, "So You Think You Can Dance" at 8 took the No. 2 slot in the ratings with a 2.8/9 in the demo , a 3 percent dip compared to last week's premiere (when it went up against an utter lack of new programming), and 7.7 million total viewers. The competition was followed by a "Glee" repeat at 9, which drew a 1.4/4 in the demo and 4.2 million total viewers.

CBS' evening consisted of repeats, with "The Big Bang Theory" at 8 taking a 2.0/7 in the demo and 7.3 million total viewers; "Rules of Engagement" at 8:30 grabbing a 1.9/6 in the demo and 6.7 million total viewers; "CSI" at 9 receiving a 1.7/5 in the demo and 7.9 million total viewers; and "The Mentalist" the following hour scoring a 1.6/5 in the demo and 8.7 million total viewers.

NBC also ran mostly repeats last night. "Community" started off the night at 8 with a 0.9/3 in the demo and 2.9 million total viewers, followed by "30 Rock" at 8:30 (0.9/3 in the demo and 2.3 million total viewers). "The Office" at 9 received a 1.3/4 in the demo and 2.8 million total viewers, while 9:30's "Parks and Recreation" repeat drew a 1.1/3 in the demo and 2.5 million total viewers. The premiere of "Love Bites" at 10 rounded out the evening with a 1.0/3 in the demo and 2.5 million total viewers.
