Ratings: NBC Skates to Demo Win With Stanley Cup Finals Game 5

Network still loses to CBS repeats in total viewers

Game 5 of the NHL’s Stanley Cup Finals between the San Jose Sharks and Pittsburgh Penguins handed NBC a win in the key demo on Thursday, but the network still fell to CBS in total viewers.

 The game averaged a 1.4 rating in the advertiser-coveted adults 18-49 demographic at 8 p.m. ET. While that made it the top program of the night in the demo, it averaged just 4.6 million viewers. CBS, airing only repeats, averaged 4.8 million.

NBC finished first in the demo with a 1.4 rating but second in total viewers with 4.6 million, airing only Game 5 of the NHL Stanley Cup Finals.

Univision finished second in the demo with a 1.0 rating but fourth in total viewers with 2.4 million.

CBS finished third in the demo with a 0.9 rating but first in total viewers with 4.8 million, airing just repeats.

ABC finished fourth with a 0.8 rating and 3.2 million viewers. A repeat of “Modern Family” aired at 8 p.m. ET, followed by a screening of “War of the Worlds.”

Fox finished fifth in the demo with a 0.7 rating but fifth in total viewers with 2.2 million, airing only the finale of “American Grit.”

Telemundo finished sixth with a 0.5 rating and 1.5 million viewers.

The CW came in seventh with a 0.2 rating and 835,000 viewers. A repeat of “Legends of Tomorrow” aired at 8 p.m. ET. “Beauty and the Beast” got 760,000 viewers and a 0.2 rating at 9.
