Ratings: NBC Wins Night With Rising ‘Voice,’ Roaring ‘Chicago Fire’

ABC’s “Agents of SHIELD” holds steady in return

NBC’s “The Voice” carried a little further on Tuesday night than it did last week, scoring the night’s top numbers and propelling the network to a decisive win for the night, according to preliminary numbers.

NBC scored first place in both the demo with a 3.4 rating/11 share and in total viewers with 13.3 million. “The Voice” at 8 p.m. rose five percent from last week for a 4.1/12 — a marginal increase that nonetheless marked the show’s best Tuesday performance since September 2013 and made the singing competition the night’s top-rated program. In total viewers, “The Voice” had 15.3 million, which also made it the night’s most-watched program.

At 10 p.m., the network’s drama “Chicago Fire” showed big gains, jumping 57 percent from its last original airing to a 2.2/7, and nabbing 9.1 million total viewers.

ABC and Fox shared a tie for second in the demo, with each network scoring a 1.3/4, while ABC was third in total viewers with 4.6 million, compared to Fox’s fourth-place 3.2 million. At 8, ABC’s freshman comedy “Fresh Off the Boat” posted a 1.7/6, off slightly from last week, and drew 6 million total viewers. “Repeat After Me” at 8:30 had a 1.2/4 with 4.5 million total viewers. At 9, “Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD” returned for its first new episode since December 9, drawing a 1.6/5 — off six percent from the December episode — and took 4.5 million total viewers. “Forever” at 10 was even with a 1.0/3 and had 4.4 million total viewers.

Fox kicked off its primetime slate for the evening with the season premiere of “Hell’s Kitchen,” which drew a 1.4/4 — up slightly from the show’s fall finale, but down a tenth from its fall premiere. The premiere drew 4.1 million total viewers. “New Girl” at 9 was even with last week’s episode for a 1.3/4 and had 2.5 million total viewers, while “The Mindy Project” at 9:30 posted a 1.0/3 with 2.1 million total viewers.

Univision was fourth in ratings and fifth in total viewers with a 1.1/3 and 2.9 million.

Telemundo took sixth place in ratings and total viewers with a 0.6/2 and 1.5 million.

CBS and The CW aired repeats for the night.
