Ratings: NBC’s ‘Telenovela’ Preview Can’t Match ‘Superstore’

Eva Longoria comedy enjoys solid start but does not catch America Ferrera sitcom

The preview of the Eva Longoria NBC comedy “Telenovela” got off to a solid start on Monday night, but not as good as last week’s preview of America Ferrera‘s “Superstore.”

“Telenovela” earned a 1.4 rating in the advertiser coveted adults 18-49 demographic and 5.4 million viewers at 10 p.m. following “The Voice.” A second episode at 10:30 got a 0.8 rating and 3.3 million viewers.

Last week, NBC’s “Superstore” pulled in a 2.2 rating and 8 million viewers at 10, followed by a 1.9 rating and 6.1 million viewers at 10:30.

“Superstore” and “Telenovela” officially kick off their seasons on Jan. 4. After ringing in the new year, the two sitcoms will be paired on Monday nights beginning at 8, with “Superstore” as the primetime self-starter.

NBC finished first on the steady Monday night, averaging a 2.2 rating and 9.5 million viewers. “The Voice” aired from 8-10 and earned a 2.8 rating and 12.1 million viewers. “Telenovela” followed at 10.

CBS came in second with a 1.5 rating and 8.8 million viewers. “Supergirl” got a 1.5 rating and 7.7 million viewers at 8, down only slightly from last week. “Scorpion” got a 1.7 rating and 9.2 million viewers at 9. “NCIS: LA” scored a 1.4 rating and 9.4 million viewers at 10.

ABC finished third with 1.3 rating and 5.2 million viewers. The premiere of reality show “The Great Christmas Light Fight” got a 1.3 rating and 5.7 million viewers from 8-10. “The Great Holiday Baking Show” got a 1.1 and 4.4 million viewers at 10.

Univision came in fourth with a 0.7 rating and 2 million viewers.

Telemundo came in fifth with a 0.7 rating and 1.8 million viewers.

Fox finished sixth with a 0.6 rating and 1.7 million viewers. The network aired only the Paley Center special “TV’s Funniest Animated Stars” from 8-10.

The CW finished in seventh place with a  0.3 rating and 1 million viewers, airing only repeats.
