Ratings: Obama Gives Jay Leno a 52% Boost

President’s guest spot puts Leno above Letterman and Kimmel

President Barack Obama's approval ratings may not be great, but he can still draw a TV audience.

Obama's appearance on "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno" lifted the show to its highest Tuesday-night ratings since March 2, 2010, the night after Leno returned to the show.

Tuesday's episode received a 4.1/11 metered-market household rating, a 52 percent leap over his Tuesday-night average so far this season. With Obama's appearance," The Tonight Show" handily surpassed "Late Show with David Letterman," which posted a 2.7/7 household rating, "Nightline," which drew a 3.6/9, and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," which received a 1.8./6.

In the cherished adults 18-49 demographic, Leno also came out on top, posting a 1.3/6 versus 0.8/4 for "Late Show," 1.1//5 for "Nightline" and 0.6/3 for "Jimmy Kimmel Live,"

During Obama's guest spot on the show — his fourth — the president discussed topics ranging from Muammar Gaddfi's death to his dislike for "Keeping Up With the Kardashians."
