Ratings: ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ Down; NBC Tops With ‘America’s Got Talent’

CBS's "Dogs in the City" drops 18 percent to tie a series low

Fox's reality competition "So You Think You Can Dance" stumbled in the ratings Wednesday night, while NBC took an overall win on the strength of the U.S. Olympic trials and "America's Got Talent," according to preliminary numbers.

NBC took an easy first place in ratings and total viewers, averaging a 2.5 rating/8 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and 9.3 million total viewers. "U.S. Olympic Trials '12: Swimming Finals" at 8 p.m. matched Tuesday night's performance, posting a 1.9/7 and drawing 7 million total viewers.

"America's Got Talent" the following hour drew the night's best ratings with a 2.8/8 and took most-watched honors with 11.5 million total viewers.

Fox drew second place in ratings and total viewers with an average 2.0/7 and 5.6 million. "So You Think You Can Dance," which comprised the network's entire primetime slate, was down 17 percent from last week, but matched the equivalent episode from last year on June 29.

Univision took third place in ratings and fifth in total viewers with an average 1.3/4 and 3.6 million.

CBS, which essentially tied for fourth with ABC in ratings with a 1.1/4 and took third in ratings with 5.5 million, aired "Dogs in the City" at 8, which dropped 18 percent from last week to tie a series low of 0.9/3 and drew 4.7 million total viewers. The network aired repeats for the rest of the evening.

ABC, which posted a 1.1/3 and took fourth place in total viewers with 3.8 million, ran reruns with the exception of "ABC News: Final Witness" at 10, which drew a 1.0/3 and 4.2 million total viewers.
