Ratings: ‘X Factor’ Hits Finale Low as Ratings Drop 45% From Last Year

Good night for champions Alex and Sierra, bad one for Fox

Fox’s “X Factor” crowned its champions Thursday night, but the network is likely not celebrating its own results, despite finishing first in ratings.

The singing competition earned a 1.7 rating in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic, a 45 percent drop from last year’s finale. Its 6.2 million viewers is down 36 percent from last year’s 9.7 million.

Still, Fox was first in ratings with the 1.7 rating/5 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and second in total viewers with the 6.2 million, according to preliminary numbers. The network only aired the “X Factor” finale, which started at 8 p.m.

CBS, ABC and NBC tied for second in ratings, each with a 1.5/5. CBS was first in viewers with 6.9 million, airing entirely repeats. ABC was third in viewers with 5.9 million, and NBC was fourth with 4.4 million.

For ABC, following a rerun “Charlie Brown Christmas” special, “ABC News: The Year 2013” earned a 1.4/4 and 5.7 million viewers.

NBC’s “The Sing-Off” at 8 received a 1.2/4 and 4.4 million viewers. A rerun “SNL Christmas” followed.

Univision was in fifth in ratings with a 1.1/3 and in viewers with 2.8 million.

Telemundo was sixth in ratings with a 0.6/2 and in total viewers 1.4 million.

The CW was seventh in ratings with a 0.3/1 and in total viewers with 861,000, airing entirely reruns.
