Rebecca Kearey Promoted to President of Fox Searchlight International

She’s currently working on “Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie”

Fox Searchlight Pictures has promoted Rebecca Kearey to president of Fox Searchlight International, it was announced Thursday by the studio’s co-presidents Stephen Gilula and Nancy Utley.

Kearey began her career at Fox Searchlight Pictures in 1995 as a marketing coordinator and most recently served as executive VP of Fox Searchlight International and Fox International Productions.

Kearey is responsible for all international marketing and distribution functions for Fox Searchlight Pictures and Fox International Productions. She will also continue to work closely with Searchlight’s president of production Claudia Lewis and director of UK production Katie Goodson-Thomas on UK-based projects to maximize their global potential.

The division is currently engaged on the production of “Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie,” in addition to a number of high priority projects in active development. Kearey reports to Gilula and Utley as well as FIP president Tomas Jegeus and Paul Hanneman, 20th Century Fox’s president of worldwide theatrical marketing and distribution.

Since 2005, Kearey has overseen the international marketing and distribution of many of Fox Searchlight’s most successful films in the international marketplace, and she has been responsible for a number of award winning creative campaigns. Among the films she has worked on are “Black Swan,” “The Descendants,” “The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel” and “The Grand Budapest Hotel,” all of which grossed more than $90 million overseas.

“Rebecca’s achievements internationally on Searchlight’s films are remarkable. We are thrilled with her promotion and look forward to her continued creativity and superb work on behalf of Searchlight’s films around the world,” Gilula and Utley said in a joint statement.

Prior to joining 20th Century Fox International, Kearey was senior VP of marketing at United Artists.  There, she oversaw the domestic marketing campaign for the Oscar-nominated indie hit “Hotel Rwanda.” She also served as head of marketing and distribution at The Sales Co in London, where she was responsible for the international campaigns for multiple films including “Bend It Like Beckham,” “Whale Rider” and Oscar winner “No Man’s Land.”
