Rep. Weiner’s Contact with 17-Year-Old Girl Investigated by Police

Congressman’s office tells Fox News that the relationship was not indecent

A hellish week may be getting worse for Rep. Anthony Weiner.

Police are investigating whether the New York congressman sent inappropriate messages to a 17-year-old, girl from New Castle, Del., Fox News reports.

The girl's name is being withheld because she is a minor. During a tearful press conference on Monday, Weiner admitted to sexting with six women and sending graphic images to them over a period of several years.

Neither the New Castle County Police Department nor the congressman’s office responded to TheWrap’s requests for comment. However, a spokesperson for Weiner’s office told Fox News that the relationship was not “indecent.”

The girl, a junior in high school, reportedly started following Rep. Weiner on Twitter after a school trip to Washington, D.C. The congressman began following her shortly thereafter and direct-messaged the girl.

Weiner has refused to give up his congressional seat, despite calls from members of both parties for him to step down.
