Revolution Studios has acquired from Dallas-based Tango Films the worldwide rights to five GK Films-produced titles, including Johnny Depp‘s “The Tourist” and “The Rum Diary.”

Revolution acquired Cold Spring Picture’s eight-title catalogue last year. It now has 126 films in its library.

“We are extremely pleased to have made this deal, which includes titles produced by Graham King‘s GK Films. In this competitive market, we are very fortunate to have the relationships that enable us to acquire such high profile quality films. This mix of prestige titles and mainstream hits, perfectly complements Revolution’s existing library and fits into our ongoing strategy of acquiring films with significant and enduring commercial value,” said Revolution COO Scott Hemming.

The films purchased by Revolution are Martin Scorsese‘s “Hugo,” “The Tourist,” the romantic-comedy-thriller starring Depp and Angelina Jolie, Martin Campbell‘s “Edge of Darkness” starring Mel Gibson, “The Rum Diary,” in which Depp starred with his now-estranged wife Amber Heard, and “The Young Victoria,” a biopic starring Emily Blunt that was nominated for three Academy Awards and won for Best Costume Design.

Revolution Studios was represented by Melveny & Myers LLP and Tango Films was represented by Irell & Manella LLP in the deal.
