Ridley Scott’s ‘Halo: Nightfall’ Trailer Promises Death, Aliens and War (Video)

Bridge story between “Halo 4” and “Halo 5” will be available exclusively as part of “Halo: The Master Chief Collection” on Xbox One

Xbox has released the full trailer for its upcoming “Halo: Nightfall” film, executive produced by Ridley Scott through his company Scott Free Productions. The film introduces a new character to the popular video game franchise, Agent Jameson Locke played by Mike Colter (“Ringer,” “The Good Wife”).

The film — which was developed as a five-part web series — is marketed as the next stage in the ongoing “Halo” saga, which includes a series of video games, anime short films and an upcoming Showtime television series by executive producer Steven Spielberg.

Based on the trailer, it looks like Colter and his co-star Christina Chong are going to have their hands full when the Covenant — an alliance of aliens who seem to agree that they want humanity wiped out — discovers a compound that is lethal only to humans.

He must take the fight to them in order to stop this deadly attack before humanity falls. The events of the film take place between “Halo 4” and the forthcoming “Halo 5: Guardians,” coming in 2015 to Xbox One.

Fans will get to enjoy the “Halo” saga in its entirety, including “Halo: Nightfall,” when 343 Industries and Microsoft release “Halo: The Master Chief Collection,” available Tuesday, Nov. 11. Aside from the new film, the Xbox One collection will include “Halo: Combat Evolved,” “Halo 2,” Halo 3,” and “Halo 4,” all on a single disc.

“Halo: Nightfall” was executive produced by Scott and David Zucker, and was directed by Sergio Mimica-Gezzan from a script by Paul Scheuring (“Prison Break”).
