Rihanna and Chris Brown: Coming to ‘Law & Order: SVU’? (Video)

A familiar tale seems to be unfolding in a promo for new "Law & Order: SVU"

Is the Rihanna-Chris Brown saga coming to NBC's long-running crime drama "Order: SVU"? And if so, what took so long?

A promo for next week's "Law & Order: SVU," airing Feb. 27 seems an awful lot like Rihanna and Chris Brown's relationship, which initially ended in February 2009 when Brown brutally beat Rihanna, but seems to have been rekindled in recent months, according to various media reports.

"A promising singer is brutally attacked by her boyfriend, a popular hip hop star," a description for the episode, dubbed "Funny Valentine," reads. "ADA Barba (guest star Raul Esparza) works to build a case, but the victim refuses to aid the prosecution and, despite Detective Benson's (Mariska Hargitay) best efforts, continues to put herself in danger."

The voiceover for the promo, meanwhile, promises "a familiar story of two celebrities intertwined by abuse."

"Law & Order: SVU" has courted criticism over the topic of abuse against women recently. Earlier this year, an online petition was circulated after it was announced that Mike Tyson, who had earlier been convicted of rape, would guest-star on the series.

"Am I the only one who remembers that Mike Tyson was CONVICTED and sent to prison for raping Desiree Washington?" the petition, posted by Marcie Kaveney, reads. "I am sorry but I see this as just another way to clean-up his image."
