Ringo Starr Does Drag for ‘Powerpuff Girls’ Song (Video)

Former Beatle dons a yellow dress in new snippet of animated musical bliss

Quite the ensemble you’re sporting there, Ringo Starr.

The former Beatles drummer — or, at least, an animated version of him — pretties himself with a hair ribbon and lovely pink dress in a new video for his latest tune.

The song, appropriately titled “I Wish I Was a Powerpuff Girl,” was written for the upcoming Powerpuff Girls special “Dance Pantsed.” The legendary rock drummer also guest-stars on the special as Fibonacci Sequins, who’s described as “Townsville’s most famous flamboyant magician.”

Judging from a sneak preview of the video, “flamboyant” is right.

“Wear a ribbon in my curl/Wear a dress and save the world,” the former Beatle sings in the video, looking considerably more fanciful than his previous cartoon incarnation in “Yellow Submarine.”

And in the end, Starr sings, he wants to “cuddle up with a puppy or two. But most importantly, spread the word of peace and love.”

And, presumably, cross-dressing.

“Dance Pantsed” premieres on the Cartoon Network on Jan. 20 at 7:30 p.m.
