Crack scandal can’t keep Toronto mayor down

Don’t worry, late night comedians: One of the most reliable punchlines of 2013 isn’t giving up on public life in 2014.

Toronto Mayor Rob Ford filed papers Thursday to run again, the Associated Press reported. Ford’s 2013 included getting caught smoking crack on video and admitting to numerous drinking binges. But this isn’t letting the politician Stephen Colbert called a “Chris Farley tribute mayor” from running again.

Toronto’s city council has taken away many of Ford’s powers, but the AP reports that Ford still has some support in the city’s conservative suburbs.

Ford has said he has quit drinking and adopted a healthier lifestyle.
